Spring Projects

Self portrait: oil on board. I like how fresh it still looks. Nice contrast and tonal values are starting off stronger than they usually do. I’m working more on not using colors out of the tube and only using a few tube colors at a time to mix from…aka a limited palette. Each time I paint, the palette is different. I focus on tonal values instead of particular colors.

Oil on Lenox. From my abused horse photography series. “Blue Jay”. Much more abstracted than I expected. I am starting to focus more on shape and less on light and blue tones.

Oh…the lady I continue to butcher. There’s something about the form where her legs meet her butt that I can’t get right. I keep painting her over and over again…I’ll go back in with drawing one last time and see where is gets me. I need to let go.
