Mothers Day Gift

Late but she’ll take it! A Tuscany landscape for my good ole Mom.

I like the colors and the general feel. Overall a nice painting. The horse could probably be integrated a bit better. The pencil lines are a tad harsh- I have been lazy in getting an eraser but it’s time! I feel good about this one. Very calm and straight forward to paint.

Since my sketches have been so strong, I decided to incorporate them more into the paintings tonight. Mediums: ink, Chinese ink block, watercolor pencil (this was an accident) and pencil.

Racehorse Sketches

I have been commissioned to paint a piece as a gift, wish I could post the photos of the process but I do not know if the receiver reads my blog!

Anyway- I can post the racehorse sketches. The watercolor is awkward at best. It is from a photo of Orb. Much happier with the sketches- I don’t think the small block works in my favor. I always feel jammed. An extra challenge or just a nuisance?
